Email Marketing has been used for years as an advertising method to getting a product or service noticed. With so many different companies sending out emails how can marketers get their opportunity noticed? You open your email box and you are bombarded with advertisements, lottery winnings, chain letters, and promises of earning millions in passive income. Its no wonder that your email is getting lost in cyberspace, or getting thrown in the spam folder never to be discovered.
Even with today’s challenges of email marketing there is still some advantages to using email as a marketing source. It keeps you in contact with your customer, offers promotions, and lets them know what you have to offer using an automated system. What many mentors or mentoring teams aren’t telling you is, the standard email marketing source is not effective as the newest trends of email. Before you send out your next email campaign follow the ten steps below and watch as your emails get recognized by your customers.
1.) It all in the Subject line - You want people to open your email. Having a Subject line that intrigues your customer to open it. Sometimes its called the Shock treatment. Here is an example of an email that had a high click through rate. My Passport To Wealth Mentors LIED AND CHEATED BEWARE This single line had people dieing to open. If you put SECRETS REVEALED or GROUND BREAKING INFO in the subject line those have high click through rates as well. You should avoid putting income claims in the headlines. I just received a Subject line that read Mentoring Mom Earns 450,000.00 in one week! I deleted it, never read it and so will the average person. No body wants Hype just facts. Even if you earned a fantastic passive income don’t announce it in the subject line.
2.) In the first line connect to your audience - What advantage would your product or service have to you customer? Relate to them about how you know the product would help them because it did you for reasons A B and C. Before you had your product how did you feel, and how do you feel now with the product? Do not forget they are real people with wants and needs, they are not a number or a sale, but people who may benefit from your product or service.
3.)Video or Audio Messages - Email Marketing does lose one aspect, and that is personalization. It is nice to know the people you will be working with. Leave a link in your email that brings them to a page with your Audio - voice message, or even better a video of you explaining what you have to offer. Your customers will love this one on one attention. In addition they will look for more emails from you because they enjoyed the one before because it is different then the rest.
4.) Color and HTML coding - Color in an email is a great attention getter, its also been proved that certain colors bring certain reactions from the readers. For an example blue, or light blue builds trust, while red is eye catching it can also cause irritability. Use Color and HTML very sparingly. If you are the creative type and have to have color then do not over do it. In most cases to much HTML and color will get your email kicked into spam.
5.) Headlines in your email - Emails with text all the way through can be boring for the average reader. People aren’t going to read unless it continues to hold their attention. Headlines in the body of emails are a great way to do this. It will keep the readers eyes rolling over the text and keep them interested. When you move to a different topic or special put a headline in the email. Lets use the headline of this article as an example. I don’t use bold or Color I simply format it as below

This keeps peoples attention instead of clumping all your information together.
6.) Short and Sweet and to the point - Long emails will lose your client before you get your product or service seen. Do not make your client read and read and read just to find out what your offering and how it will benefit them. Get to the point. People don’t want to work to find out what your product can do for them. They want it to be clear and easy.
7.) Send more then one email - Email Marketing is numerous emails and presentations going out to your potential customers offering your product or service. A customer normally has to see your offer up to seven times before purchasing from you. You can set your emails automatically to go out every day or every other day. I highly recommend having at least 30 emails per campaign.
8. ) Offer a special deal - There is no better marketing strategy then offering a Promotion or discount to your customer. You can set a sense of urgency by having a date the sale goes on. For an example: Free One one One Mentoring for Life When You Purchase our product or service by October 31,2007. I have used this example several times with success. Also FREE trials are a great way to have customers see the benefits. You could offer a 10 day - 30 day free trial. But make sure your customer can recognize the value in your promotion. If they don’t understand how it will benefit them they will not be compelled to do it
9.) Give away a FREE gift- Everyone loves a FREE gift. Gifting someone a valuable piece of software, or vacation package, or educational book is a great way to bring validation to you and your company. It shows that you care, and truly want to help your customer make the right decision for him.
10.) Leave your contact information and your main website- Sounds very basic but the amount of people that forget to personalize there information is numerous. Always end your emails with a standard Best Regards, or Sincerely, and then your name, title and contact information. Contact information can be your telephone number, fax number, and your instant message information. Make it easy for the potential buyer to contact you or your customer service department. Always include a click able link to your website to receive more information.
Email marketing has been used for years, and still has tremendous power. If you are looking into email marketing you should have an autoresponders to make your life easier. Autoresponders are an automated system that you set your sales letters up and it takes care of the rest. You don’t have to manually type emails to your clients. Set yourself apart by using some of the ten steps above. Be inventive, with so many emails going out daily to your customers, you really want to be unique and stand out from the rest. If you follow the same pattern as everyone else on the Internet you won’t get noticed, if you are different then other marketers you will get noticed and your business will see the affects.
